What Is The Pre-Demolition Process At ABH?

Before we get to work with a demolition process, it’s important to analyze and create a safety execution plan. Our experts will first perform a building survey to learn more about usage, neighborhood conditions, building standards, materials, building codes, and plumbing concerns. Gathering this type of data allows us to put a plan in place that allows for the safest demolition.

Next, we check for hazardous waste and help property owners find the best disposal solution. We also ensure no flammables, contaminants, or asbestos will pollute create a hazardous issue. Next, we create a demolition plan and itemize the demolition details, including breakdown and removal of debris. This allows home or business owners to understand the timeframe of actions.

Lastly, we take safety measures to reduce potential worksite hazards for our demolition workers and clients. This includes getting the required work permits for our clients before demolitions begin and having qualified staff use the proper personal protection equipment (PPE). We also take care to secure a demolition worksite with temporary fencing to reduce worksite accidents.

Types Of Demolitions

Here are the primary demotion types that companies use to assist homeowners and businesses.

  • Wrecking Ball Demolitions

Wrecking balls range from between 1000 to 12,000 pounds. Just imagine a big steel ball hanging from a crane and waiting to swing toward a home or business. The magnitude of that weight being dropped, pulled back, or boosted will easily bring down any type of structure, no matter how massive or how strong it is. The crane operator needs exact precision, however, to safely remove all the debris during wrecking ball demolitions.

  • Implosion Demolitions

While the wrecking ball is remarkable, implosion demolitions, although rare, are impressive to experience because explosives are used to take down a building. A demolition company may either choose to add explosives to the columns to cause it to collapse or to the support, which causes walls to fall within a building’s defined space.

  • Excavator Demolitions

For smaller structures, excavator demolitions are most common as it is a safer way to take down a building without additional risks or hazards. The excavator’s attachment does most of the work as its arm pulls down walls and breaks apart the foundation’s structural components. We then use tools to minimalize the structural components.

  • Selective Demolitions

Selective demolitions are considered the most eco-friendly among these options because it removes sections rather than the entire structure. This is a great choice for homes or businesses that require restructuring, renovating, remodeling, or refurbishing. We also can reuse or recycle building materials which makes it better for local waste reduction.
