ABH Services provide wide-ranging recycle services for the Greater Boston and North Shore, MA area. We will recycle just about anything. An increasing proportion of the material we recycle is electronic waste (e-waste). It seems like every year there are more electronic devices to recycle. By 2021 it’s predicted that the amount of electronic waste (e-waste) worldwide will reach the accumulated amount of 57.5 million tons. Recycling appliances and electronics are therefore essential.
Luckily the vast majority of the materials in your outdated or malfunctioning can be recycled. In Massachusetts, it is illegal to leave many types of e-waste in the regular bins. Luckily, at ABH services we are e-waste recycling experts. We specialize in electronics and will recycle anything with a plug. We guarantee that your appliances are reused or disposed of safely.
We also offer free drop-offs on most items. Check out our list here: https://abhservicesinc.com/services/recycling-service/
Recycling appliances can be challenging. This is what you need to remember:
- Many electronic devices contain sensitive and personal information. First, you will want to back up all of your information and keep it available to you.
- Next, you should clean all data, no matter how trivial, from your device. In this era of data theft and doxing, any bit of information may be used against you. This is especially relevant concerning pictures or financial statements.
- You will need to remove any internal data on your device or appliance. In the case of many products, such as cellphones, it is best to reset it to factory settings. This should clean it of all the information you have stored. You can also use professional memory cleaning software if need be.
- Make sure to remove any attachments, which also may contain information or could complicate recycling. Your appliance may be connected to a DVD or CD-ROM drive. It may be attached to USB ports, external storage units of various types including flash drives. If you are donating a digital camera, media player, or cell phone, there may be a memory card or SIM card that holds all your data. This will be located by the battery of the device and should be removed before recycling.
- Next, you will want to disconnect your device from any social media or online shopping accounts. This will ensure that the new owner of your recycled appliance cannot access the accounts and your sensitive information. In the security and privacy settings of the app, you will find the relevant sections, usually under the title “Where You’re Logged In” or “Recently used devices.”
Aside from electronics, ABH Services also recycles cardboard, paper products, plastics, tires, wood, and just about any non-hazardous material.
