When the Pool is No Longer Cool

Its finally summertime and many people are looking forward to that long-anticipated event – opening their pool for the first time! But what if you’re not most people? What if that above-ground pool no longer screams fun, but instead whispers frustration every time you step into your backyard?

Why Remove It

Above-ground pools serve a great purpose for many families, but – as the saying goes – all great things must come to an end. Maybe your kids have grown and flown the nest, and the pool now sits unused for most of the season. Perhaps you’re preparing to sell your house and research has told you that above-ground pools actually lower your home value, especially if they aren’t in 100% pristine shape. Or, maybe you’ve decided to go another route and are considering upgrading to an in-ground pool, or something just as fabulous in that big round spot in your backyard. Whatever your “why,” we at ABH Services have the knowledge and the know-how to help you take back your yard.

How to Remove It

In order to remove an inground pool, several steps need to be taken. First, if there is any decking or debris around the exterior of the pool, this will need to be taken apart and moved away from the site. Second, the pool – if currently filled – will need to be drained. It’s important to make sure any electrical connections have been disconnected before this step. After all the debris and water are removed, the pool will be disassembled. Hoses will need to be disconnected and then the liner will be cut into manageable sections. Wall posts and panels will then be pulled apart and all materials will be removed from the location.

Who Should Remove It

You can go a few different routes when disassembling and disposing of your above-ground pool. Some like to do it themselves. If you have the time and skills, this is probably the least expensive route to go, but remember there are rules and regulations in most neighborhoods and communities as to how you should properly dispose of certain materials. Remember, too, that an above-ground pool isn’t going to be an easy thing to haul away. If you do decide on this route, we at ABH Services can talk to you about our different dumpster rentals and if one would work for you.

Having our team come and do the teardown and removal is another option. At ABH, we have years of experience in the proper and safe way to disassemble pools, and we have the tools necessary to do so. Reach out to our team for a quick quote and an idea of which option would be best for you and your budget.
