Demand for Plastic In Tech and Transport Industries On The Rise

Although ABH Services recycles tons of plastic for residents in the North Shore and Greater Boston communities, the United States is not even in the top ten when it comes to municipal waste disposal.  According to a recent report by the Plastics Industry Association, the statistics may be changing as the demand for plastic in the tech and transportation industries is on the rise.

The recent release of the Plastics Market Watch Report: Watching: Transporation highlighted the need for more plastic industrially for the production of electric automobiles, autonomous vehicles, and public transport such as airplanes, boats, trucks, and trains. Industry leaders also show an interest in the technology-based expansion of transportation manufacturing investment.

The report also noted that plastic is the most innovative breakthrough since autos were first manufactured as it has altered societies and disrupted goods and service distribution. Chief Economist Perc Pineda also noted that the plastic material would greatly affect the transportation and technology manufacturing based on his knowledge of the trending usage industries-wide.

What Is Recycled Plastic Used For?

Designers and engineers integrate plastic manufacturing in a number of products since it is weatherproof and resistant to moisture. The research on various ways to implement plastic material also was found to be excellent for automobile safety measures and comfortability which economists like Pineda agree will become a viable resource within the transportation sector.

The members of the Transportation and Industrial Plastics Committee have spent the last four years dedicating time and resources to such research and development. The committee’s role has significantly influenced the Plastics Market Watch Report as its committee members determined that solidified plastic material could be further utilized in transportation and technology sectors.

Plastics In Aviation

Plastic was first used by the aviation industry in the seventies and has grown four-fold over the last fifty years. Because airlines continue to be a major player in global mass transport, the demand for plastic by-products like nylon continues to be a marketable resource because it is sturdy, lightweight, and resilient. It also reduces the weight of transport vehicles by half.

ABH Services Plastic Recycling Initiatives

Because plastic recycling is not as popular culturally as in other countries, most people tend to discard it in landfills rather than send it to a recycling center which is what we hope to change. Without a doubt, plastic polymers have a major influence on the environment which is why we recycle plastic at ABH Services. That said, plastic recycling demand is changing perceptions since plastic salvaging initiatives in the U.S. grew from 225 to 311 million tons in just a decade.

  • Plastic can take as many as five centuries to deteriorate naturally.
  • Americans use more than 102 billion plastic bags annually, yet it takes only one bag in the ocean to kill a million sea animals.
  • Americans will save 2000 gallons of gas and oil by recycling one ton of plastic.
  • Only 9% of plastic is recycled in the US while 15% produced energy even though eight out of ten Americans have direct access to local recycling programs.
